Merchant Intake & Onboarding

Merchant Onboarding is how a prospective merchant starts the process of accepting payments through Convenient Checkout. The merchant's business, treasury, and technical stakeholders submit the Convenient Checkout Engagement Form, which kicks off scoping, configuration, and implementation planning for the new merchant.

Get Started

To configure a merchant after onboarding is initiated, see the Merchant Onboarding integration guide.

Key Benefits

Real-world Example

A new healthcare provider wants to accept patient payments online. Their business owner submits the Engagement Form with business, treasury, and technical contact details and an estimated implementation date. The Convenient Checkout team uses that submission to plan configuration instead of collecting the same information over email threads and calls.

Without the Engagement FormWith the Engagement Form
Stakeholder details are collected ad hoc over email and callsOne submission captures business, treasury, and technical owners
Implementation timelines are estimated without volume contextAnnual payment volume and target date are captured up front
No single record of who requested onboardingA tracked form response starts the onboarding record

Business Rules

Pre-Conditions

  • The prospective merchant has identified a business owner, treasury owner, and technical owner.
  • The merchant has an estimated annual payment volume and target implementation date.

Post-Conditions

  • The submission is routed to the Convenient Checkout team to begin onboarding.
  • The merchant record moves into configuration once stakeholder details are confirmed.

Constraints

  • The Engagement Form does not configure the merchant automatically; it starts the onboarding process.
  • Form fields and routing are owned by the Convenient Checkout team and may change without a documentation update.
